PIRA brings Campus Tour to Naga
The Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA) will be heading to various schools to educate the public about insurance and the insurance industry.
PIRA is continuing its campus tour, which has been to 11 schools and reached more than 5,000 students in the last three years.
The campus tour’s next stop is at Ateneo de Naga University on Nov. 16. This would be the tour’s third provincial location, following University of Cebu and Ateneo de Davao University.
PIRA is eyeing University of Nueva Caceres and Bicol University as the campus tour’s next destinations.
Industry experts like Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific (IIAP) Executive Director Januario Aliwalas, and industry expert Herminia Jacinto will be leading the discussions, which will be attended by around 300 students, faculty members and administrators from the two schools.
Discussions will revolve around non-life insurance and careers in the insurance industry.
PIRA’s campus tour to Ateneo de Naga is made possible through lead coordinators Prof. Mariano Adriano Jr. and Guia Olin, the chairperson of the Business and Management Department.
IIAP’s Select Universities Insurance Training and Scholarship Program (SUITS), a two-month intensive course on insurance and management, will also be introduced to students.
IIAP is giving 20 students a chance to enter the P150,000 program for free, where they will be mentored by insurance executives and practitioners. Participating students will also be given a P250 daily allowance.
Students who enter SUITS are more likely to skip entry-level positions and also have a higher chance of being employed in the insurance industry.Hits: 42
