By: Mr. Arturo B. Reyes, PIRA Trustee & Chairman of Tech. Sub-Committee on Motor Car Delivered at MCISV3.0 Kickoff, 24 March 2017
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association and the PIRA Motor Car Committee, I would like express my appreciation and excitement for the launch of the latest version of Our MCIS.
It has been 21 years since the Motor Claims Information System was born. Kumbaga sa tao, MCIS is now a full grown adult, ready to face the world and take on more serious responsibilities. And I'm sure that with the investments put in by PIRA and the technical expertise of our partners NTT Data, this latest version of the MCIS will be able to meet and even surpass our expectations.
But again, as they say in Computer lingo, garbage in, garbage out. The MCIS will only function properly if we put into it sufficient and accurate data. It is not a magic machine that would solve all our problems in the industry when it comes to fraudulent claims. It is just a tool that will allow us to achieve that objective. And for us to achieve that objective, we have to use the tool correctly.
This kickoff, therefore, marks PIRA's renewed commitment to support not only the continuing development of the MCIS but also the drive to encourage our members to Contribute data.
Data is the fuel that Will make the MCIS move. Without data, the MCIS is useless.
So starting tomorrow, I believe we all have a work to do in making sure that the data generated by our respective companies relative to motor car claims are forwarded to the MC|S.
Atin po ang system na ito. This system was developed by us and for us. Let us make it work. At the end of the day, we will all benefit from this project. MCIS - Maaasahang Claims information System.
